How we work
We’re here to serve the communities of Ynys Môn - and that means being open, fair, and clear in how decisions are made.
Our charity is run by trustees and a membership who help guide what we do and make sure we stay true to our purpose.
Trustees
Our trustees look after the big picture: where we focus our funding, how we support the island, and how we protect the fund for the future.
They make sure we stay true to our charitable purpose, respond to local needs, and use our resources fairly and wisely. They help set our direction, make strategic decisions, and guide how we work day to day.
All our trustees are chosen through an open application process. We look for people with a wide range of skills, experiences, and local insight - including lived experience of the issues we support.
We want a board that reflects the diversity of Ynys Môn and brings strong leadership, care, and independence to every decision made.
Members
Our members help make sure the charity stays on track. They review our reports, support strong governance, and help us update our constitution when needed. Their role is to make sure we’re delivering on our purpose.
In 2025, we made a significant change to how membership works. For many years, all Isle of Anglesey County Councillors automatically became members of the charity. This arrangement played an important part in safeguarding the fund, and we’re deeply grateful for the generations of councillors who helped steer and protect the charity through its early years.
But as the charity has grown and changed, so too have the expectations around independence, transparency, and community voice.
That’s why membership is no longer automatic or linked to elected office. As part of our move toward more independent and community-led governance, we are now developing a new membership model.
This new model will be open to all individuals who live on the island or are connected to its communities, and who want to support the charity’s purpose, values, and future direction.
Why This Matters
We want to make sure decisions are made fairly, independently, and in the best interests of our island. This change helps ensure the charity is shaped by a broad range of perspectives and continues to reflect the communities it serves.
These changes mean:
More voices can be involved
Decisions are clearer and more balanced
Our work is rooted in the real needs of communities
This is part of our journey to become a truly community-led charity and we’re excited to keep building it together.
